Electric mobility is an essential part of a sustainable urban mobility policy, as it provides an opportunity to ensure security of energy supply and a broad use of renewable and carbon-free energy sources in the transport sector. Pollutants and noise emissions in cities can also be reduced by encouraging electric mobility.

Increase the use of electric and hybrid vehicles as well as enhancing their integration into the urban transport system are key strategies. The interconnection of users and electric vehicles, the development and financing of infrastructure, as well as innovative electric vehicle sharing schemes and electric logistics concepts are priority issues to build a larger scale implementation of electric mobility.
